Pakistan is the 8^th most populated county in the world and 30% of its population is under the age of 18 which means most of the population is school going. There are over 30,000 schools in Karachi only and more than 100,000 schools, colleges and universities across the country. Paying fee the usual way is not only difficult but hectic too. Most of the educational institutes in Pakistan collect fee payment through Bank’s branches. Payer has to go to bank’s particular branch carrying cash and school voucher. Payer in this case is mostly parents of the kids studying in either schools, colleges and universities, since most of Pakistan’s population is working class, one would feel bad for them that they have to make out time from their daily jobs to go all the way to bank branch to pay fee.

Recently a friend called me and asked to pay his daughter school fee as he was going through tough times. I asked him to send details so that I can pay it. I expected voucher image on my whatsapp with fee details but instead I got a text mentioning kuickpay ID. I was confused at first but then I googled kuickpay and got to know that its Pakistan’s leading fee payment system offering digital fee payment option to schools, it is connected to all major commercial and Islamic banks of Pakistan. Kuickpay is on all banks mobile banking apps.  I have few mobile banking apps on my mobile such as Bank Islami, meezan, easypaisa, askari bank and JS. I logged in on my meezan app, tab on bill payment, selected kuickpay as biller, enter kuickpay id and press pay. Fee was paid instantly, got a call from friend 10 secs after I paid the fee, he was thanking me, upon asking how did he know I paid the fee, he said kuickpay always sends confirmation sms/email along with digital invoice as attachment.

I was amazed to learn that digital payments are finally making space in Pakistan. I wish kuickpay enters more areas like real estate, Internet service providers, utilities and digitize their payments so that end consumer should get benefit out of it.
